Amelia found solace in capturing the beauty of the world through her lens. Her latest project led her to a secluded beach on the outskirts of a small coastal town. The sun was setting, casting a warm golden hue over the rugged cliffs and pristine sands. The heat of the summer day was waning with the evening breeze.

As she set up her tripod and camera, a sense of unease crept over her. The beach seemed deserted, devoid of the usual laughter and chatter of visitors. The beach was popular in the summer. Young couples enjoyed the seclusion the cliffs offered. Surfers enjoyed the waves. And ghost hunters enjoyed the beach at night, hoping to catch a glimpse of the sea captain who threw himself off the cliff a hundred years ago after his wife was swept out to see in a freak accident.

Ignoring the feeling, she focused on her work, capturing the play of light and shadow as the sun dipped lower on the horizon.

Lost in her art, Amelia didn’t notice the figure approaching until it was right next to her. A man, tall and imposing, stood at the edge of her frame, his face obscured by the fading light. Startled, she lowered her camera, her heart pounding in her chest.

“Can I help you?” she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
